Episode 48 of the Poufwa Exchange has been released!

Tonight, Poufwa Exchange offers you a middle-of-the-night recording of the Ryan and Jen show! We cap off (or crap off, if my autocorrect gets a vote) coverage of Torchwood: Miracle Day, discussing the episodes Immortal Sins, End of the Road, The Gathering, and The Blood Line, right after we offer our thoughts on Doctor Who 6.5 episodes Let’s Kill Hitler, Night Terrors and The Girl Who Waited.

In place of the sex quiz we normally take to spice up our recording, moments before the recording of this episode, I adopted two cats. These are the only pets I have ever owned besides Alex the Turtle, who died when I was eight of mysterious circumstances three days after I got him, and those hungry office fish I bought before remembering about three day weekends and inclement weather work cancelation days. And since I’m anal, I decided to stick them in the room with me during the podcast.

You’re welcome.

Happy listening! Next up, Firefly!

(Doctor Who, Torchwood) Episode 46 – Jen’s in a pickle, PS hates looms, and a Poufwa Double Date

poufwa11.png

Episode 46 of the Poufwa Exchange has been released!

Tonight, Poufwa offers a dual-length episode nine months in the making!

Back in January, when I was watching Torchwood’s second season for the first time and eager to talk about it, we recorded a discussion that morphed from Torchwood to Firefly to Doctor Who’s recently completed fifth season and our predictions for its sixth. It’s a great lost episode where we can revisit past impressions, seeing who guessed what and discover forgotten theories that may still come true! The point of the Poufwa Exchange is to live the experience again vicariously through someone else, but this is a fun chance to revisit it ourselves!

My, how deep of me.

This first section contains spoilers for all episodes through Torchwood Season 2’s Adam and Doctor Who’s fifth season finale, The Big Bang, or at least that’s the case after heavy editing. Jen otherwise couldn’t help herself.

Around the 2 hour 30 minute mark, we offer our second podcast of the evening, a recently recorded Poufwa double-date! Jen and I bring James and Danielle along for a carefully planned, itinerary-powered, 25-part discussion of Doctor Who Season 6.0 and our predictions for Season 6.5, debuting tomorrow night! It would have made Robert from SpellCast proud if we actually pulled it off. Alas, Poufwa.

In case I haven’t grabbed you sufficiently yet, this episode also includes my remotely accessing Jen’s computer in search of her smut collection!

Poufwa will be back early next week, hurricane depending, to discuss the season premiere of Doctor Who and the next two episodes of Torchwood. Later in the week, we debut our third season, with coverage of Firefly!

Happy listening!

(Torchwood) Episode 44 – Outside the Nation: Aliens of Japan

Filed under: Torchwood — ryan @ 4:24 pm

poufwa11.png

Episode 44 of the Poufwa Exchange has been released!

For our favorite episode of Torchwood: Miracle Day yet, Jen and I have remarkably fewer bullet points for you as we discuss the sixth episode of the season, The Middle Men. You’ll just have to listen!

With Gwen, Rex and Esther trapped on both sides of the Atlantic, it’s a race against time as Jack goes straight to the heart of the conspiracy

I’m not sure how they got “trapped” there. Gwen seems like she has full use of her frequent flyer miles!

In this middle-of-the-night recording, Jen lays on the table her considered-in-detail theory of the plot behind the Miracle. Please, no drinking. We realize exactly how far Rex has fallen since he met up with Torchwood, and to be frank, there’s an uncomfortable amount of omni-poking!

Happy listening!

(Torchwood) Episode 43 – Whales, trust funds, and she’s Jen and proud of it!

Filed under: Torchwood — ryan @ 12:55 am

Episode 43 of the Poufwa Exchange has been released!

This title has been shortened to not give away a classic Jen Classic line that is likely already available via Twitter.

Tonight, in preparation for our third season in a few weeks, Jen Classic and I offer a rundown of other fandoms we’re hooked on at the moment, including shocking revelations about how Jen spends her time and money!

Getting to it, we offer our thoughts in reviewing Torchwood: Miracle Day’s much improved fourth and fifth episodes, Escape to LA and The Categories of Life.

The fight against PhiCorp takes the Torchwood team to California, where a trap is waiting. Meanwhile, Oswald, and Jilly find themselves with an enemy of their own.

After going undercover, the unit learns what is really going on with the Miracle.  And as the enemy draws nearer, mortality is about to make a comeback in a most unnerving way.

In this episode, we discuss:

Falling Skies; that which shall not be named; Star Trek fan fiction that costs $12; my thoughts on naked men; Jen’s entirely different thoughts on naked men; our exactly-the-same thoughts on the beautiful woman that is Eve Myles; who the hell Mare Winningham is; Deep Impact versus Fifth Element; why everything is better in California despite its crushing debt; Jen Classic: Fashion Editor; Jack Harkness as a lead character versus an ensemble character versus quite the gay character; I insult southerners; skype security; Torchwood’s mortifying iphone apps;  Jilly’s Orwell-incuded testicles; Chuck and why every Firefly fan who’s always wanted to see Jayne huck a microwave at someone’s head from 130 feet should watch it; Tangled; Major Kira’s footwear; the Ash Theory; Jen’s thoughts on government that breaks me, and the rest…

Doctor Who fans – don’t forget to check out Jen’s recommendation of The Chaosverse!

Torchwood goes on the run and finds a new enemy, but as they launch a raid on PhiCorp headquarters, Jack must confront the mysterious Oswald Danes.

Next week, Jen Classic is going on vacation to Yellowstone. I am not kidding! We’ll catch up on the next two episodes in two weeks!

Happy listening! It’s a good one!

(Torchwood) Episode 38 – Our 20 minute podcast on Miracle Day, sans earmuffs

poufwa11.png

Episode 38 of the Poufwa Exchange has been released!

Tonight, I’m joined by Jen Classic to begin a series of episodes discussing the Doctor Who spinoff, Torchwood: Miracle Day, now airing in the United States on Starz! This episode discusses Episode 1: A New World, and contains spoilers for previous seasons of Torchwood and up through Season 6.0 of Doctor Who.

Convicted child killer Oswald Danes is executed for his crimes and when he miraculously survives his fate a series of events is set in place that forces CIA Agent Rex Matheson to investigate a global event, His investigation leads him from America to Wales and an old defunct British Institute – TORCHWOOD.

We’ll make every effort to release future podcasts on Torchwood as close to the original air date as possible.

Stop laughing. We mean it!

In this podcast, Jen and I have a spat over the household budget, the cable bill, how best to attire the child before going outdoors, the size of Jack Harkness, the size of Bill Pullman, an annoying habit shared by Gwen Cooper and Minerva McGonagall, and Jen shares what she thought the Poufwa podcasts have been up to all this time!

In a few short weeks, Poufwa will launch its third season, with episodes devoted to Firefly, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, Doctor Who and Torchwood, the final seasons of Babylon 5, and instant analysis on current series as they air.

Really. Stop laughing!

Happy listening!
