(Doctor Who, Torchwood) Episode 46 – Jen’s in a pickle, PS hates looms, and a Poufwa Double Date

Episode 46 of the Poufwa Exchange has been released!

Tonight, Poufwa offers a dual-length episode nine months in the making!

Back in January, when I was watching Torchwood’s second season for the first time and eager to talk about it, we recorded a discussion that morphed from Torchwood to Firefly to Doctor Who’s recently completed fifth season and our predictions for its sixth. It’s a great lost episode where we can revisit past impressions, seeing who guessed what and discover forgotten theories that may still come true! The point of the Poufwa Exchange is to live the experience again vicariously through someone else, but this is a fun chance to revisit it ourselves!

My, how deep of me.

This first section contains spoilers for all episodes through Torchwood Season 2’s Adam and Doctor Who’s fifth season finale, The Big Bang, or at least that’s the case after heavy editing. Jen otherwise couldn’t help herself.

Around the 2 hour 30 minute mark, we offer our second podcast of the evening, a recently recorded Poufwa double-date! Jen and I bring James and Danielle along for a carefully planned, itinerary-powered, 25-part discussion of Doctor Who Season 6.0 and our predictions for Season 6.5, debuting tomorrow night! It would have made Robert from SpellCast proud if we actually pulled it off. Alas, Poufwa.

In case I haven’t grabbed you sufficiently yet, this episode also includes my remotely accessing Jen’s computer in search of her smut collection!

Poufwa will be back early next week, hurricane depending, to discuss the season premiere of Doctor Who and the next two episodes of Torchwood. Later in the week, we debut our third season, with coverage of Firefly!

Happy listening!

(Babylon 5) Episode 45 – Purple Kosh…Purple Kosh!

Episode 45 of the Poufwa Exchange has been released!

After much delay, we return to Babylon 5 space, capping off discussion of its third season with analysis of the episodes Walkabout through the literal cliffhanger Z’ha’dum!

It’s a great podcast. I even bring the wife!

This episode contains discussion of that Bucket woman, the shipping of PS and Aaron without a side of Robert from SpellCast, the shipping of Danielle and Marcus without a side of Ryan, new perspectives on fanny packs, the mystery something in Deth’s dog’s mouth that frightens him but thrills Mrs. Deth, my hat rack, the PS-GPS, and the giant mattress at the bottom of the hole.

Poufwa Exchange will return to Babylon 5 in a few weeks with discussion of Season 4 – all in one sitting! We will undoubtedly fail, but all of Season 4 will be up for grabs the next time we return.

For those planning ahead, we’ll return in a few days with a dual-length episode mainly covering Doctor Who and Torchwood. It will contain a historical conversion (i.e. Ryan is the slowest editor on planet Earth…) with my real-time thoughts watching Doctor Who Season 5 and Torchwood Season 2 for the first time. We’ll then jump ahead to our recent thoughts on Season 6.0 of Doctor Who and our theories of what will happen in next week’s Season 6.5 premiere.

If I haven’t coaxed enough Doctor Who fans to tune in, allow me to appeal to your inner-Poufwanian: I hack into Jen’s computer and you won’t believe what I find on her desktop!

You can also expect in the weeks ahead next-day podcast analysis of newly aired Torchwood and Doctor Who episodes along with historical discussion of older episodes of Doctor Who. We’re also ready to hit the release button on a two-part series on Firefly, a series on The Hunger Games, and our return to A Song of Ice and Fire.

Keep listening!

(Torchwood) Episode 44 – Outside the Nation: Aliens of Japan

Filed under: Torchwood — ryan @ 4:24 pm

Episode 44 of the Poufwa Exchange has been released!

For our favorite episode of Torchwood: Miracle Day yet, Jen and I have remarkably fewer bullet points for you as we discuss the sixth episode of the season, The Middle Men. You’ll just have to listen!

With Gwen, Rex and Esther trapped on both sides of the Atlantic, it’s a race against time as Jack goes straight to the heart of the conspiracy

I’m not sure how they got “trapped” there. Gwen seems like she has full use of her frequent flyer miles!

In this middle-of-the-night recording, Jen lays on the table her considered-in-detail theory of the plot behind the Miracle. Please, no drinking. We realize exactly how far Rex has fallen since he met up with Torchwood, and to be frank, there’s an uncomfortable amount of omni-poking!

Happy listening!

(Torchwood) Episode 43 – Whales, trust funds, and she’s Jen and proud of it!

Episode 43 of the Poufwa Exchange has been released!

This title has been shortened to not give away a classic Jen Classic line that is likely already available via Twitter.

Tonight, in preparation for our third season in a few weeks, Jen Classic and I offer a rundown of other fandoms we’re hooked on at the moment, including shocking revelations about how Jen spends her time and money!

Getting to it, we offer our thoughts in reviewing Torchwood: Miracle Day’s much improved fourth and fifth episodes, Escape to LA and The Categories of Life.

The fight against PhiCorp takes the Torchwood team to California, where a trap is waiting. Meanwhile, Oswald, and Jilly find themselves with an enemy of their own.

After going undercover, the unit learns what is really going on with the Miracle.  And as the enemy draws nearer, mortality is about to make a comeback in a most unnerving way.

In this episode, we discuss:

Falling Skies; that which shall not be named; Star Trek fan fiction that costs $12; my thoughts on naked men; Jen’s entirely different thoughts on naked men; our exactly-the-same thoughts on the beautiful woman that is Eve Myles; who the hell Mare Winningham is; Deep Impact versus Fifth Element; why everything is better in California despite its crushing debt; Jen Classic: Fashion Editor; Jack Harkness as a lead character versus an ensemble character versus quite the gay character; I insult southerners; skype security; Torchwood’s mortifying iphone apps;  Jilly’s Orwell-incuded testicles; Chuck and why every Firefly fan who’s always wanted to see Jayne huck a microwave at someone’s head from 130 feet should watch it; Tangled; Major Kira’s footwear; the Ash Theory; Jen’s thoughts on government that breaks me, and the rest…

Doctor Who fans – don’t forget to check out Jen’s recommendation of The Chaosverse!

Happy listening!

(A Song of Ice and Fire) Episode 42 – Theon Greyjoy has a not-so-fresh feeling, PS loves hardcore gay sex, and Arya makes Peanut Butter

Filed under: A Song of Ice and Fire — ryan @ 5:02 am

poufwa11.png

Episode 42 of the Poufwa Exchange has been released!

Tonight’s podcast concludes our second season coverage of A Game of Thrones, by George Martin! Near fear – Poufwa Exchange will swing by the universe early next season. The coverage gets so good that Dethryl issues a mustache-trimming moratorium to help deal with the enthusiasm!

This episode boasts character discussion of Sansa, Arya, and Jon.

*Old Nan is secretly one of the Others.
*Dethryl revisits Sansa-gate, circles the lot once and arrives back where he started.
*Poufwa Exchange supports the Second Amendment, as well as the third, sixth, the tenth on Sundays, the sixteenth when we want to pay for the Moon Landing, and we generally flip coins on the eighteen and twenty-first.
*Jen2 slays Dethryl. Laughter warning for 42 minutes. Avoid gas stations!
*Snape is a Homefries Nazi. Like with soup.
*Aaron shares his dinner, Saul’s on the wall, and the hosts start to hit on each other. I smell sweeps week!

If you’re confused by the Christmas talk, this episode recorded in December. We won’t tell you which year!
